No Greg

I called Greg and he probably doesn't need his brakes fixed. He already got his safety inspection sticker from another guy.

Success!

Tuesday night, I worked on the exhaust on the Jag until 11 PM. Took it in and had it inspected on Wednesday and it passed. It can develop all the little leaks it wants to over the next couple of years. Additionally, I registered it online.

I'm going to be helping Greg on his truck this Saturday. Brakes, all four wheels. Pads and rotors on the front and wheel cylinders on the rear.

Junk

Gerald and I emptied the trailer of the trash.

Five Steps Forward, One Step Back

Drove the Jag to work so that I could get its emissions inspection, but when I was leaving work to take it over, I could tell there was another little leak, so I decided to fix that first before I waste my time at the shop. Will fix it soon.

Monday, October 13: Better and Better

Got the exhaust put back together.

Removed the old Air Conditioning Amplifier and and finished installing the new one. Started it up and set it to the coldest level: blew cool air out the top vents. Hooray!

Put some more oil in the A/C system; put a vacuum on it (which held with no leakage for over 15 minutes); and put three small cans into it. Nice cool air blowing. All the flaps and control stuff seem to work.

Deidre and Grace came down with me and hung out with Deb & Jamey for a while.

Saturday, October 11: Getting Better

No rain; no Gerald. But, Robert and I got the master cylinder replaced on the Jag. The brake fluid resevoir had a lot of crap in it. I think that cleaning that took the most time of anything else on the brakes. It stops on a dime now.

Also worked on patching up some of the exhaust leaks.

The Pieces Are in Place

The master cylinder has arrived.

Gerald is not going to West Virginia ... but he's not necessarily going to the shop.

Hopefully the rain holds out.

Toward getting better

I ordered the master cylinder for the Jag from Coventry West. It is supposed to be here by the weekend.

Gerald is going to be in West Virginia this weekend.

Not getting better yet

As I was looking at the exhaust manifold, trying to find that leak, I discovered a puddle of brake fluid under the brake booster. Dang it. I figure it's the master cylinder. I checked into prices and they appear to be around $100.

Shafe and I got the front wheel off of the motorcycle. (1990 Honda CBR1000F. I flipped it last year.) It looks like all we have to do is loosen the t-bars and the front forks should be easily realigned.

On the brighter side, the CUBS BEAT THE BRAVES! Things are definitely looking better there.

Robert wants to come up this Saturday just to get away from William & Mary. He can come, but we're not going to let him drink all our beer.

Can still be better

The Jag has two exhaust leaks, according to the guy at Tyson's Mobil. But he wouldn't fix it. He told me to take it to the dealer or back to the place that worked on it last. I'll work on it at Gunston on Saturday.

A lot done ... more to do

I got the trailer filled with stuff to throw out. There is a lot more room to work inside now. This will be good as the weather is getting colder it and will be nice to work inside with the doors closed. I fired up the furnace to make sure it was working - I need to keep an eye on the oil level. Still have to empty the trailer - probably on Saturday.

Could have been better

I didn't get there until after 10 pm because I didn't get home until after 9. There are forces trying to keep me away from the shop. I got the new A/C amplifier plugged into the Jag (with Gerald's help getting the old one disconnected), but I don't have the pigtail mounted. Hmmmm.

Anyway, I drove it to work today hoping to get the emissions inspection/registration taken care of ASAP.

Time to clean house

Today I am in a clean house mood. I am hoping to fill the trailer with stuff to go to the trash. Need to clean up the shop, it will be therapeutic.

Bluff

I didn't make it last night. I got home late, but, more importantly, the Cubs were playing and I couldn't rip myself away from the TV. It's on ESPN tonight, so I'll be working on the Jag -- hopefully.
